Welcome To Our NHMTA Workforce Training Programs
Please select and review below content for four specific educational paths offered by Lake's Region Community College in Laconia NH and Apprenticeship NH:
1) Marine Maintenance Certificate Program
The Marine Maintenance certificate is a seven-month program that starts in the fall semester. Classes meet twice a week, and students are encouraged to work part-time in a marine setting while completing the program. Lakes Region Community College has established partnerships with more than 30 marinas throughout New England and works closely with students to place them.
Upon successful completion of the program, students will earn both a Certificate in Marine Maintenance from LRCC and Mercury Maintenance Certification from Mercury Marine.
Additional degree options are available for students who wish to continue studying for an associate degree.
Industry reports show annual growth of 5% in this trade, with a shrinking supply of qualified technicians. Job opportunities are more abundant than ever!
Job opportunities for marine technicians can be found in coastal and lakeside communities. Graduates will find employment as inboard drive, or outboard technicians. Many other opportunities in the recreational off-road marketing, such as motorcycle and
snowmobile technicians are also available. For further information, please click the highlighted link below.

Marine Tech Certification
2) Marine Technologies Associate in Applied Science
The Marine Technology program concentrates on recreational marine equipment; including outboards, inboards, inboard/outboards, engines, and diagnostic equipment. Students become knowledgeable in the maintenance and repair of internal
combustion engines and drive systems through classroom and lab experience. Should you seek a degree, LRCC offers a Marine Business degree for those seeking a technical education accompanied by a business perspective. This pathway is best suited
for an individual looking for a management position or possible ownership of a marina. The Marine Technical degree is for those who want the most concentrated marine engine repair training available. These students will earn a Marine Maintenance
Certificate, a Marine Diagnostic and Repair Certificate, and become Factory Certified with Mercury Marine through our Advanced Marine Systems course. There are many opportunities for Marine Technicians in coastal and lakeside communities. Graduates
will find employment as inboard drive, or outboard technicians, service managers, parts management, or even business owners. There are many other opportunities in the recreational off-road vehicle market; such as motorcycles, watercraft, and snowmobiles
technician. Those recreational products are closely related in design and concept; skill sets would be easily transferable. For further information, please click the button below:

3) Apprenticeship NH
A registered Apprenticeship is a way to learn a great career while you work and get paid. There are over 1,000 career opportunities
Registered apprenticeship connects job seekers looking to learn new skills with employers looking for qualified workers. Apprentices benefit from a combination of hands-on and classroom training while earning pay. Employers benefit from connecting with workers who have the knowledge, skills, and experience they need. The result is a workforce with industry-driven training and employers with a competitive edge.
What is an apprenticeship program for me?
Earn- Start on your path to success without racking up debt. From day one, you earn a paycheck that will increase as you improve your skills. Most apprenticeships require 2,000 to 8,000 hours of on-the-job training, depending on the occupation.

4) High School Apprenticeship NH Program
In late 2020, ApprenticeshipNH expanded through a federal grant to launch a new program designed specifically for high school students so they too can “earn while they learn.” Run by the Community College System of NH (CCSNH), the ApprenticeshipNH High School program (ApprenticeshipNH-HS) aligns with the goals and structure of the ApprenticeshipNH initiative and builds off of past successes.
With this focus on youth, this new program follows a pre-apprenticeship to Registered Apprenticeship model. It begins with work-based learning/pre-apprenticeship in 10th and 11th grade where students are introduced to careers and learn skills designed to prepare them to enter and succeed in a Registered Apprenticeship.
